The first in a multi-part series on the EU AI Act, this article covers its scope and provides details on prohibited AI systems. The EU AI Act applies to providers of AI systems placed on the EU market, as well as organizations in the EU that use an AI system. The AI Act enforces a complete ban on the use of certain AI systems, including social credit systems, untargeted scraping of facial images, and emotion-recognition systems.
